Opportunities and Challenges of the Independent Curriculum in the Early Childhood Learning Process at Nurul Quran Stabat Langkat Kindergarten

This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in the learning process of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) at Nurul Qur'an Kindergarten, Stabat Langkat. The Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes the freedom of teachers in choosing learning methods and materials according to the needs of students, is expected to be able to improve the quality of education at the PAUD level. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and principals, and document analysis. The results of the study show that the Independent Curriculum provides great opportunities for teachers to develop creativity and innovation in learning, as well as be more responsive to the individual needs of children. However, the challenges faced include limited resources, lack of training and mentoring for teachers, and resistance to change from some quarters. In conclusion, although the Independent Curriculum offers many opportunities for the improvement of early childhood learning, adequate strategies and support are needed to overcome the various challenges that arise in its implementation at Nurul Qur'an Kindergarten, Stabat Langkat.
