Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of borehole construction on groundwater quality in Langkat Regency. The construction of rapidly increasing bore wells has the potential to cause changes in the physical, chemical, and biological quality of groundwater, which can adversely affect public health and the sustainability of water resources. This study shows that groundwater pollution occurs due to various factors, including domestic waste, the use of chemical fertilizers, and over-exploitation of groundwater. In order to maintain groundwater quality, sustainable management is needed through strict regulations, routine monitoring of water quality, and increased public awareness. The recommendations given include improving water management policies, public education, water quality monitoring, and developing good sanitation infrastructure. Proper management will help maintain the sustainability of groundwater resources in Langkat Regency for the future.
