Abstract

An efficient irrigation system is a vital element in supporting food security, especially in agricultural areas such as Lalat Regency. However, challenges such as imbalances between water availability and demand, damage to irrigation infrastructure, and the impacts of climate change hinder optimal water distribution. This study aims to explore the potential of developing a simulation model of irrigation networks as a solution to this problem. With a qualitative approach and conceptual review, the study concludes that the simulation model is able to improve water distribution efficiency, reduce waste, and respond to environmental dynamics adaptively. The results of this study are an important basis for the development of modern irrigation management strategies that support the sustainability of the agricultural sector and food security in Langkat Regency.
