Abstract

The Strategy for the provision of public facilities in the urban area of the capital city of West Nias Regency is an important aspect in creating a livable environment and supporting sustainable development. This study aims to analyze the planning conditions of public facilities in the area, as well as identify opportunities and challenges faced in efforts to realize sustainable urban areas. The results show that despite the various opportunities, such as government funding, tourism and local cultural potential, and digital technological advancements, the main challenges faced are budget constraints and accessibility difficulties in remote areas. For this reason, a strategic, inclusive, and collaborative planning approach between the government, the community, and the private sector is needed. Through the use of existing opportunities, increased coordination between sectors, and innovative solutions in overcoming accessibility limitations, it is hoped that the planning of public facilities in the capital city of West Nias Regency can support sustainable development and improve the quality of life of the community.
